En route to Clachtoll Beach

From Loch Carron, where we entered the North Coast 500 route, we decided to miss out the section to Applecross as we had done this recently and it does add quite a bit to the journey. (A worthwhile note here: the road to Applecross is not suitable for caravans!) So we continued on the A896 to the beautiful Torridon, passing The Torridon Hotel (where Chris spent his 60th birthday!) right on the edge of Loch Torridon, which is a sea loch. You are surrounded by magnificent Munros here, such as Liathac and Ben Eighe so hope for some clear weather as you drive through Glen Torridon. We beetled on though as today’s drive was a long section and finally arrived at Clachtoll Beach just north of Lochinver on the B869.

    • We certainly did Gemma, we stopped two nights and found the warden very cheerful and helpful and the facilities good. Great to just open the door and let Brodie run to the beach! The road northwards out of Clachtoll was just amazing, great views. Will certainly return to Clachtoll!
